Dreams Come True!
Take time to dream. That which we dream of is born of the heart.
We all have special wishes and dream, and often they come true. This page is devoted to the many, many successes of our students, whether or not they are dance-related. These achievements might be associated with academics, sports, dance or community service – but they were all earned by hard work and dedication.
Give us your story. Have you “dreamed it, then achieved it”?
If so, we want to know about it.
Rachel Bove
A Level 5 SuperStar, Rachel was chosen as the 2008 Teen Miss Dance of Pennsylvania by Dance Masters of Pa. Rachel will represent the state of Pennsylvania at the National Competition in Orlando, Florida this summer. She was chosen from many, many talented dancers representing some of the top studios in the state. She will hold the title of Teen Miss Dance of Pennsylvania for the next year, and will participate in various conventions that Dance Masters will host.

Nikki Bott
A 2006 Graduate of the Dance Workshop by Shari SuperStars, Nikki is now a member of the prestigious Duquesne University Tamboritzans. Nikki spent 15 years at the studio studying all forms of dance, including ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, and acrobatics. She was an award winning soloist at several competitions through the years. Nikki now travels regionally and nationally performing with the Tamboritzans. In addition, she is staying on top of her classes in the very challenging Pharmacy program at this renowned university. Congratulations, Nikki!
Taylor Ackerman and Zack Daley
Taylor was chosen as the Dance Masters Petite Miss Dance of Pennsylvania 2005 and Zack was chosen as Junior Mister Dance of Pennsylvania 2005. To achieve these titles, Taylor and Zack had to demonstrate their dance talents by performing in a group number and also a solo number of their choosing. They also participated in extensive interviewing to assess poise and maturity. They were chosen to represent the state of Pennsylvania at Nationals from the top dancers in the state. This was a huge honor. Taylor and Zack participated in the National Convention in Memphis and were rated among the top dancers in the country!
Taylor Ackerman - On stage with the Radio City Rockettes.
Taylor auditioned in New York City for the honor of performing with the nationally recognized Radio City Rockettes when they performed in Pittsburgh. After her exhaustive NYC audition, she was called back for an interview and audition in Pittsburgh. Taylor was chosen to perform a ballet pointe solo as part of the touring Rockettes Christmas show in 2005 on the stage at Benedum Center.
42nd Street Tappers
Zack Daley, Rudy Hazen, Kimberly Steele, and Courtney Wotus auditioned and were chosen to perform a tap number in the CLO production of 42nd Street in the summer of 2006. Hundreds of tappers from Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas auditioned, and 4 of our students were chosen for this exciting Broadway classic. Having the chance to perform on the stage at the Benedum is a dream come true for these hard-working students.
Rudy and Meredith Hazen
Rudy was chosen as the 2007 Teen Miss Pittsburgh and Meredith was chosen as the 2007 Runner Up Jr. Teen Miss Pittsburgh for the Win A Crown Pageant. As the Title holder for 2007, Rudy will participate in a variety
of community service events, including visits to the Veterans Administrative Hospital, work with underprivileged children, and charity events to raise money for Children’s Hospital and Make A Wish Foundation
Melissa Granatire
Melissa was chosen to be the 2006 Jr. Teen Miss Pittsburgh for the Win A Crown Pageant. This pageant celebrates young woman and encourages empowerment, self-confidence, and self-esteem. As the title holder, she appeared in parades, sporting events, charity balls and other events in the area.
Marissa Nicholas
Marissa organized a “Power of Flowers” campaign for her parish, Our Lady of Loretto in Brookline. She wanted to find a way to make her church a beautiful place that people would want to visit. By soliciting donations and help, she was able to raise the money to plant a beautiful garden outside their church. She hoped making the church more attractive, would encourage people to visit and maybe start attending services. She achieved her dream, and was recognized by Luke Ravenstahl, mayor of Pittsburgh for her efforts.
Carli Obeldobel
Carli was recently awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Awards. As a student at South Park Middle School, she was one of two only students chosen for these prestigious awards. The VFW award is commended for citizenship, scholarship, and attendance. It is given to people who have helped the VFW organization’s goal to make the world a better place in which to live. The American Legion Award is awarded for a person’s courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.
