Dreams Come True!
Take time to dream. That which we dream of is born of the heart
We all have special wishes and dreams, and often they come true. This page is devoted to the many, many successes of our students, whether or not they are dance-related. These achievements might be associated with academics, sports, dance or community service – but they were all earned by hard work and dedication.
Give us your story. Have you “dreamed it, then achieved it”?
If so, we want to know about it.
Katie Boyle
Katie attended Dance Workshop by Shari for 15 years and was a top performer and the recipient of many awards for her group and solo numbers at competitions. During her free time, she was often seen at the studio sharing her love of dance and acro with the younger students. After Katie graduated from Point Park with her degree in Dance, she auditioned and was hired by Royal Caribbean Cruise line for their dance and acrobatic shows. Since April of 2009, Katie has had the opportunity to travel the beautiful Caribbean Sea, and, most recently, Alaska. She has been a featured performer in the Royal Caribbean on-board shows. When Katie returns to Pittsburgh between cruises, she can be found teaching and choreographic at the studio, her second home!
Zack Daley
Zack has been dancing since he was 3 years old. As a member of the Dance Workshop SuperStars, he has had many opportunities to perform and compete as a group member and soloist. He was awarded the prestigious title of Dance Masters Junior Mr Dance of Pa. He also performed in the CLO's "42nd Street" at the Benedum and been a member of the Radio Disney Dancers. In addition to his dance successes, he is a top athlete in high school. The flexibility he acquired in dance class has helped him be a better hockey and baseball player. Zack also has a successful modeling career. He has been seen in print campaigns and commercials for UPMC, the US Navy, and CiCi's Dance Catalog.
Nikki Bott
A 2006 Graduate of the Dance Workshop by Shari SuperStars, Nikki is now a member of the prestigious Duquesne University Tamboritzans. Nikki spent 15 years at the studio studying all forms of dance, including ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, and acrobatics. She was an award winning soloist at several competitions through the years. Nikki now travels regionally and nationally performing with the Tamboritzans. In addition, she is staying on top of her classes in the very challenging Pharmacy program at this renowned university. Congratulations, Nikki!
42nd Street Tappers
Zack Daley, Rudy Hazen, Kimberly Steele, and Courtney Wotus auditioned and were chosen to perform a tap number in the CLO production of 42nd Street in the summer of 2006. Hundreds of tappers from Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas auditioned, and 4 of our students were chosen for this exciting Broadway classic. Having the chance to perform on the stage at the Benedum is a dream come true for these hard-working students.
Marissa Nicholas
Marissa organized a “Power of Flowers” campaign for her parish, Our Lady of Loretto in Brookline. She wanted to find a way to make her church a beautiful place that people would want to visit. By soliciting donations and help, she was able to raise the money to plant a beautiful garden outside their church. She hoped making the church more attractive, would encourage people to visit and maybe start attending services. She achieved her dream, and was recognized by Luke Ravenstahl, mayor of Pittsburgh for her efforts.
Carli Obeldobel
Carli was recently awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Awards. As a student at South Park Middle School, she was one of two only students chosen for these prestigious awards. The VFW award is commended for citizenship, scholarship, and attendance. It is given to people who have helped the VFW organization’s goal to make the world a better place in which to live. The American Legion Award is awarded for a person’s courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service.
Christina Liebert
Christina is a 2004 Graduate of Baldwin High School and a former "Dance Workshop by Shari" SuperStar. During her years at Dance Workshop, Christina was the recipient of many awards for dance and acro at regional and national competitions. She is currently attending Penn State and is a member of the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team. In 2009, she was given the NCA Collegiate All-American status. This prestigious award is presented to cheerleaders and dancers displaying superior qualities in all aspects of collegiate spirit, including leadership, showmanship and technique. Congratulations, Christina for all of your accomplishments.
